On July 13, 2026, the CERC NEST team held a community workshop at Esperanza Community Housing to present the findings of the report, Angelinos’ Voices – Catalyzing Community Capacity for Equity in Climate Action. The report was developed from a series of community workshops conducted the previous year. Led by Dr. Patricia Romero Lankao, CERC NEST Principal Investigator (PI), the workshop shared key insights from the analysis, highlighting residents’ experiences with the rising cost of living, work and income insecurity, and the interconnected challenges these issues pose for equitable climate action.
The workshop also highlighted community strengths identified by participants, including strong networks of mutual care, local knowledge, and resilience, while exploring residents’ shared vision for a greener, safer, and more people-centered Los Angeles. The event provided an opportunity to validate the report’s findings with community members, reflect on the research outcomes, and discuss how these insights can inform future actions and partnerships that advance equitable, community-driven climate solutions.
